Cardiff Millenium Centre

How far is it from Cardiff main train station?

If it's not easily walkable, can you suggest public transport options?

It's about 20-30 minutes walk from the central station: exit front of the station, head right towards the Marriott hotel, opposite the hotel turn right heading under the railway bridge, left down Tyndall Street and then first right down Lloyd George Avenue.

Better to use public transport as there are varius options: From the back entrance to the central train station the Cardiff Bay Express bus (a blue bus with a distinctive yelllow' X' on it) leaves every 10 minutes and drops you right outside the Millennium Centre - journey time (with stops) is about 10 minutes. Alternatively at Cardiff Central station get a train to Queen Street Station (1 stop) and change to Platfrom 3 for the Cardiff Bay shuttle train - it leaves every 15 minutes.

Just checking - you do mean the Millennium Centre and not the Millennium stadium (which is right opposite the station)???? One does ballet and opera and the other does football and rugby - all colourful entertainment of course whichever one you end up at.

Thanks Jim

Yes it was the Centre I was enquiring about, though I love sport and music with an equal enthusiasm.

Hi Paul

Make sure you have time to wander round the centre and see the internal and external features and the artwork (also do check out the new Richard Rogers Welsh Assembly building next door). I hope you can post a review of your experience after you've been.

The Bay Xpress is indeed the best option from Cardiff Central station, because you can use your train ticket on it without paying extra.

From the end of May a different company is taking over the service, so it will be operated by a "bendy" bus, and re-branded Baycar.
