New Years Eve

As stated before a family of 4 from Australia. Youngest 16. We are considering New Years Eve in Wales and was wondering if there was anywhere people could recommend staying/going out to to have a good time.

There is no official New Years Eve celebration in Swansea. Unless you want to spend the evening touring pubs I'd recommend staying in and watching the London celebrations on TV.

Swansea does have an annual Waterfront Winterland with ice rinks and funfair which runs for a few weeks:

Cardiff also has a Winter Wonderland and last year there was a fireworks display on NYE:

If you are considering staying in London for the celebrations, there are lots of threads on the London Forum about NYE, this one will give you some idea of how much time you will have to stand and wait if you want to see the fireworks display live on the Thames.

If you do want to do something unique in south Wales you may want to consider attending (not necessarily participating in!) the Nos Galan in Mountain Ash. This is a road race for runners whic takes place on New Year's Eve : http://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/mobile/en/news/archive/2013/january/nos-galan-a-huge-success!.aspx

Swansea Bay and Gower is a very friendly part of Wales. You could have a wild time on Wind Street in Swansea a very lively area full of clubs and bars. Mumbles is more sedate but the pubs are bursting on NYE you will have to wait to closer to the date til venues release their plans
