Larne Ferry Port to Belfast

I will be catching a ferry from Troon to Larne. What is the best way to get from Larne Ferry Port to Belfast city centre if you have luggage? Is getting a train easy? Or is a taxi best?

Getting the train is definitely the easiest, and if you get one of the brand new trains on that line, very comfortable. Depending on the time of day, and which part of Belfast you're staying in, you may need to change trains at Belfast Central to get to Great Victoria Street.

Foot Passengers board and leave the Troon - Larne Ferry by shuttle bus, as required by Health and Safety regulations.

At Larne Ferry terminal, follow signs to Trains - the railway station is within the same building as the shuttle drop-off point, only a short walk, and there are no stairs to negotiate.

Details of the Larne Harbour - Belfast Central service may be found at www.translink.co.uk - tickets are purchased on board and include a free transfer to the city centre by any bus. The bus stop is outside the railway station.

But a taxi would be easiest as it would take you door-to-door.

I would say though that unless you are staying somewhere significantly outside the city centre in Belfast, getting a taxi would most definitely not be worth the additional expense. Both train stations in Belfast are reasonably convenient to the majority of the hotels.

If you're going by train, you might be better off going via Stena Line Cairnryan-Belfast because this route offers inclusive train & ferry 'SailRail' tickets from anywhere in Britain to Belfast.

For example, Glasgow to belfast for £27, London to belfast for £49.

Interesting, but how do you get from the train in Scotland to Cairnryan, given that there's no rail service to Cairnryan? Is there a bus from Glasgow/Stranraer?
