Belfast has a compact city centre and no matter what hotel you are staying in it wouldn't really take you more than 15 minutes to walk to any paticular bar or shops.

Depending on your budget if you can stay in the Cathedral Quarter there are lots of trendy bars in that area, their is a hotel called the Merchant in that area but it is expensive. If the budget is just book into any city centre hotel and you will be near all the bars and the brand new Victoria Square shopping complex.

I'm sure you'll have a fab time.

Everywhere is walkable within belfast city centre. Cathedral quarter is where you want to go for the little bars etc as the poster above says. In some ways I'd say hotels can be a bit grim at weekends with hen parties etc in lots of city centres and Belfast isn't much better. If you're prepared to stay over in South Belfast Uni area, Tara Lodge just off Botanic avenue gets good reviews and doesn't really attract the party crowd. Botanic is a nice base in the daytine - good coffee shops and plenty of places to eat. Would esp recommend Clements for coffee.

Hope you have a good time.

I think the other posters are correct. The Cathedral Quarter is where you'll probably want to go out.

There are nice places to stay in the Botanic area, but the places to go out there are un-funky, un-classy and un-cool [although several of them are very good].

As the others have said you can easily walk everywhere you'd want to go. If you want to splash out then maybe Malmaison if you want to be very near the shops and Cathedral Quarter.

If you want to stay up nearer the Queen's University and Botanic then I would advise booking the Empire "suite" [it's one huge room and huge bathroom, rather than a suite of rooms] at the Crescent Town House. Tara Lodge is excellent value if you are looking for decent basic.

Botanic can get very very busy at night.

Enjoy.
