My family is arriving at Belfast Central at 12:15 on Sunday. We were wondering if there was a good place to get a quick lunch in or nearby the station.
Unfortunately Central is something of a misnomer. It's central to the rail network, not the city. Try the Hilton Hotel, a high rise visible ahead from the front of the station.
How much time do you have and do you have an onward journey? Victoria Square is about a 5 minute walk away and has a choice of different types of restuarants.
The station has its own cafe/bar
If you have time to get the train on round to Great Victoria Street, you have The Crown Bar and Robinsons just out the front of the train station, both would serve sunday lunch.
In the station itself there is a café selling paninis, baguettes, etc. Within a few minutes' walk (turn left as you exit the station and walk down the hill) there is a Subway (takeaway only) and a fish and chip shop (used to be called The George but was renamed recently I think). Personally though at that time on a Sunday I would take a walk over to St George's Market and grab something from one of the stalls there. However if you have a bit more time on your hands, just catch the bus into the city centre for more options - if you keep your train ticket you can catch any Metro bus for free at the bus stop outside the station.
Many thanks to all of you for helping us out! We are planning on taking a Black Taxi Tour, but wanted to eat a little something beforehand. The options in City Centre sound excellent, so maybe we'll head there first and then take the tour.
Sounds good! Just do be warned that most of the shops and indeed some of the cafés and restaurants in the city centre don't open until 1pm on a Sunday, but you should find plenty of places to eat open that little bit earlier.
