Hello All,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get to the Somme Heritage Centre via public transport from the centre of Belfast please?

It's possible to get within easy walking distance, yes. Either train or bus to Bangor, then bus towards Newtownards. The centre is just off the dual carriageway between the two.

Of course, bus to Newtownards, then bus towards Bangor would also work.

I'm sure Translink will be on to provide you with the route numbers in the morning.

An ideal opportunity to prove that the new journey planner at www.translink.co.uk actually does work. Type in from "Belfast" to "Somme". It will assume that the starting point is in front of City Hall (fair enough) and provided you can distinguish that you want to go to "Conlig, Somme Centre" and not "Knockbreda, Somme Drive, hey presto it actually works, complete with maps and full instructions.

One small journey for man, one giant leap for Translink!

Hi Nathan,

To get to the Somme Centre from Belfast you would get an Ulsterbus service from Laganside Bus Centre to Newtownards on a service 5,7,9,9B or 10 then change in Newtownards & get a service 6 or 6C that will have Bangor as it's destination but will drop you off at the Somme Centre on it's route. The day return for this would be £5.20 Belfast to Newtownards then £3.80 Newtownards to Conlig totalling £9.00, there is an ILink Zone 2 card available online for £9.50 which offers unlimited travel on all services within Zone 1 & Zone 2 for the day on both bus & rail if you think you might be doing any other journeys in that day. I have provided links for timetables & ILink information for your persusal. http://ow.ly/xqtLu http://ow.ly/xqu1W http://ow.ly/xqu8T http://ow.ly/xqug0 http://ow.ly/xqulg Hope this helps & enjoy your visit
