train travel Dublin to Belfast and back

I see two options for train travel by Translink or by Irish Rail

I need help to understand what the significant difference is? Touring and trying to keep the budget line.

Thanks.

Hi Eva,

The Enterprise train is a cross border service operated by Translink and Irish Rail. I have attached a link with some more information.

I am also attaching a link to the Translink website which will give you Timetable information you may need for your journey.

Please let us know your travel plans and we can provide more detail on fares etc.

Kind regards

Yes there are bus services between Belfast and Dublin. We run this service in conjunction with Bus Eireann.

A return which is valid for 1 month is £20.85 sterling from Belfast. Take a look at cheaper fares and timetables online.

We also have promotional journeys for the train. I have attached a link to this page also

Happy to help.

If you are starting your journey in Dublin you will need to contact Irishrail.ie re prices. They tend to have promotional offers on if you purchase in advance. Take a look at their website here -

In the interests of full disclosure, also look at Aircoach as another bus option - it's actually quickest.
