B&B help

We are planning a trip to Scotland in Sept. Have found accommodations in Glasgow, Lochearnhead, Aberfeldy & Drumnadrochit. After we will be driving back from inverness, probably through Elgin to Aberdeen and on to Edinburgh. This part of the drive seems too long so we will probably need a b&b to stay half way. I've been on the visitscotland.com site but most of the b&bs listed in the Dundee area don't supply breakfast even though they are b&bs. Can anyone suggest a 3 star b&b? After our 2 night stay in Edinburgh we will be driving through the borders and hopefully stay 2 nights around Castle Douglas or Kirkcudbright before heading to Glasgow and home. We're looking forward to this trip.

Instead of stopping in Dundee, why not drive a few miles further and get a B&B in St Andrews? Its got much more to offer a visitor than Dundee in my opinion. Check out the St Andrews page for some suggestions for B&Bs.

It'll only take you about an hour and a half to drive to Edinburgh in the morning so you can maybe afford the time to have a look round. The beach is awesome and of course theres the golf mueum, the castle, the shops........

Also the drive from Inverness to Aberdeen is awful why not drive from Inverness down the A9 to Perth (2 hour drive) and explore a bit of Perthshire, Pitllochry is also a nice town to wander round and St Andrews is only half an our from Perth too.

Thank you for the info. Gives us something to think about. Since we are staying in Aberfeldy for a week and driving to Inverness from there we thought we would take a different route for the return trip. But if the drive is "horrible" we could return via Perth and stay in the St. Andrews area. Will now check the St. Andrews area B&B.

Hi

I don't think I'd say the route from Inverness through Aberdeen is horrible - maybe not as scenic as the A9, but it does have some interesting stops - Elgin is worth a visit (especially Johnsons cashmere shop and cafe). If you like walking, there are some nice short trails just north of Inverurie, on the side of Bennachie - Aberdeenshire's favourite hill. You don't have to walk very far but get super views from the coast to the high hills.
