I'm currently about to have a baby, and we had a trip to Scotland planned for last April, which had to be cancelled at the last minute because of problems with the pregnancy.
Unfortunately after doing all of the planning, my husband and I cannot get this "bug" out of our system. I would like to re-plan the trip for this fall, but we will have to bring a four month old baby now.
We WERE going to spend several days in Edinburgh with friends, take a 4 day coach tour of the highlands, stay at B & Bs, eat at nice restaurants and visit distilleries. It looks now if we are going to plan this thing, we will not be able to easily do ANY of those things.
I cannot find any comprehensive information about family travel in guidebooks. How do couples with babies typically get around (rail?), where do they stay and eat, and are distilleries usually welcome? What kind of gear will we need to get around Scotland-- will a small stroller and baby bjorn carrier be enough? Do trains require bringing a carseat in Scotland?
I'd appreciate any help you can give!
