Any where on the west coast; e.g. Torridon, Wester Ross.

Frm Edinburgh, go N, Dunfermline, Auchterader, Crieff, Aberfeldy [optional extension Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Queens View, Loch Rannoch] Loch Tay, Killin, Callander, Doune, Sterling, Edinburgh. This is "do-able" in a day, but it is one awful lot of driving.

I agree with tommyatkins.

If in the Highlands, there are several routes. You could try Inverness - Ullapool - Durness - Tongue - Lairg - Bonar Bridge - Struie Hill - Ardross - and back into Inverness on the A9. That is about 6 hours of driving - depending on how you drive.

A shorter North Highland route would be Inverness - Ullapool - Ledmore Junction - Inchnadamph - Lochinver - Stoer - Drumbeg - Kylesku - Inchnadamph - Ledmore Junction - Bonar Bridge - Struie Hill - Ardross and back to Inverness on A9. That would probably be a little over 4 hours driving time.

The second, shorter route is the ideal one for me. I've done it several times and it's superb.
