If you look to the left you will see reviews of hotels courtesy of the many members of this site who have written hotel reviews. Having looked at these, if you want more info, it might be an idea to tell us a bit more.
You haven't given us your budget or what sort of hotel you like - small and intimate or big with lots of facilities?
Mid August is peak Festival season in Edinburgh and you will find that the cost and availability of hotels is severely affected. It is only a 45 minute train journey between the cities and trains run every 15 minutes- it may be that you should think about basing yourselves in Glasgow and taking day trips to Edinburgh? Recommendations on hotels depend on your budget and how central you wish to be so a little more information would be useful for us to help you. Ten Hill place and Raddisson hotels are in good locations and get good reviews for Edinburgh.
Sorry for the lack of info!
As far as budget, we'd like to stay around 100 euros/night per room (or less!), so i guess we'd be interested in "mid-range" pricing. And as for location, we'd like to be close to the city centre, perhaps in a more quite neighborhood (if that even exists!). We'll be checking out the World Pipe Championships whilst in Glasgow, so I figure we'd prefer to be close to Glasgow Green.....
Additionally, we'll have a car, so parking may be an issue, yes? If the hotel had parking facilities that would be a big plus!
We realize that this will be festival time in Edinburgh and quite crowded, and we're prepared both mentally and financially!
