Family with young kids - where to stay

I will be travelling to Scotland with my wife and two kids, 1 year and 4 years old. It's our third trip to Scotland, but first one with two kids. We're looking for some countryside/seaside self-catering accommodation (cottage, log cabin, caravan, etc), preferably within a holiday park or having good facilities for kids (play area, indoor pool) in the vicinity. At the moment we are a bit at a loss on location but we'd love to be in a scenic but not too remote place, even though will have car. On our earlier trips we toured the Southern/Western Highlands and Edinburgh and we loved it. So we wouldn't mind to stay in same area but child-friendly location will be primary decision-factor.

Thanks

How about Aviemore... Good location close enough to Inverness and Moray area, but has LOADs of family activities, lodges etc... Woody Bark may be along with some more detailed local knowledge :) !

I agree that Aviemore would be good but the Piper Dam may also be a possibility?

Hello! yes the Aviemore area may suit - what about somewhere like the Hilton at Coylumbridge? Its in a superb area for scenery yet close to Aviemore for places to eat out. There is also the Strathspey Steam Railway which the kids might enjoy and the Reindeer Centre at Glenmore just up the road. There are facilities in the hotel like a pool and kids area and there are self catering chalets if that's what you prefer.

Aviemore is about 1.45 hrs north of Perth

Thank you all for your suggestions. Aviemore seems to fit perfectly within our requirements. Despite having travelled to the Highland on two occassions, I had somewhat missed the Cairngorms. So decision made thanks to your help. Will keep a note about the other suggestions (Piper Dam and St Andrews) for the future.
