10 days in Scotland

We will be spending 10 days in Scotland in August. Our base for the first 7 days is Glencoe. We will be hiring a car and plan to tour the highlands and maybe a day in Isle of Skye.

We will be flying home from edinburgh so we will be spending our last day in Edinburgh.

Where should we stay for the two days in between...we are not so keen to spend more than one day in Edinburgh as we prefer the countryside?

Near Pitlochry and explore Perthshire

or near St Andrews and explore the East Neuk of Fife

If you are planning to stay in Edinburgh overnight, be sure to book your accommodation now as August is peak time and you will struggle to get a place if you leave it too late.

Somewhere around Aviemore but not necessarily Aviemore itself. Lots of great countryside around there with the Cairngorms, Rothiemurchus, Speyside, Loch Garten, etc. and very different from the countryside in Glen Coe.
