hi all, I am planning of spending 12 days on a bike tour of Scotland and I am looking for suggestion on the itinerary.
I will probably be forced to start off in Edinburgh or Glasgow (I will fly in either of the two cities from Venice) - although I guess I could always fly there and then move by train to any other place. I have already visited Edinburgh so don't really want to spend time there.
Apart from these constraints, I don't really know where I should go. I know some bike routes go up to the northern part of Scotland (which is kind of tempting to me... maybe I could fit in a couple of days in the shetlands) - but I've also read that the most beautiful sceneries are in the Highlands and in the western part of the country and the isles.
I am going to be doing about 30-40 miles per day - so I am aiming for a 350 miles long trip. I don't fear a bit of up and down so hills and mountains are welcome.
Any idea and suggestion would be appreciated.
