Help with itinerary

Flying into Edinburgh on June 22 for 10 days. Thinking of staying in City for 2 nights, then going down to Berwyn-upon-Tweed, Gala Shiels, Moffat(stay 2 nights-friend has relatives there), then up through Glasgow to Glencoe(3 nights-day trips to Skye, Loch Ness), over to Perth for 1 or 2 nights and then back to Edinburgh.

Is this too ambitious?

Could this route be done by train, bus? Or does it require driving?

Any help with sites to see, places to stay, etc. appreciated.

It seems a bit ambitious!

Are you flying into Edinburgh from the US? If so, you might take a couple of days to readjust with the time difference. Edinburgh will go past in a flash at the start, so you might not fully appreciate it. I'd probably skip Perth and spend a further 2 nights in Edinburgh at the end of the trip. Or at least one night, and add one more night onto the west highlands part. You cant stay in Glencoe and realistically do day trips to Skye and Loch Ness IMO either.

If you want to see Skye, at least base yourself somewhere closer - such as Kyle of Lochalsh or Arisaig/Mallaig. These are the major connection places for getting to Skye.

Part of your journey can be done by train (the part north of Glasgow) heading towards Kyle or Mallaig. You can also get across to Inverness, near Loch ness from Kyle by train. You can also get from Edinburgh to Glasgow and Edinburgh to Berwick on Tweed by train.

Train info here http://www.scotrail.co.uk/

There are also travelpasses which can work out quite good value if you use the train enough, for example
