First trip to Scotland and Ireland

Hi,

I am planning a trip to Ireland and Scotland. I attached some photos of our itinerary, see link below because this site wont allow attachments. I was hoping for some general comments, suggestions, corrections, thoughts on accomplishing this itinerary?

I'd also like some suggestions for places to stay, B&B's, castles, or just hotels in the areas we are stopping in.

I looked at the cell phone sticky and didnt notice anything about data. I was planning to use my unlocked iphone 4S with a local SIM to make phone calls but more importantly for data so that I can use the internet to look things up and for navigation. Do you have any information about using data with a local SIM?

I like to do active adventures so if you have any suggestions for that too!

Thanks!!

I really don't think it is a good idea to post (or FOLLOW) a link to an unknown site. That way normally lies trouble.

(In fact, I think it is against the rules of Tripadvisor!)

Why can't you tell us your itinerary like everyone else does????????

You're going to get similar advice here that you got on the Ireland TA forum.

You're cramming way too much into the trip. I honestly don't think it's physically possible to do what you have planned let alone see anything at all along the way.

When?

Right now Ben Nevis is nose-deep in snow and it gets dark at 7 pm. In June you can reasonably expect some greenery and some decent weather, it'll get dark about 11 pm and evening sight-seeing is possible. Thats the only way you're going to be able to pack in everything you want to do.

However I get the impression you've plucked overnight stays from the map rather than by looking at attractions in each. However you may well have good reasons for stopping in Inverness and Dundee.

http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/ is a good place to identify places worth going to in each region.

I know the last time I was planning a trip to Edinburgh, I was recommended to use this website. Relatively cheap too

http://www.edinburghbedbreakfast.co.uk/

I have just checked on their website and they also have B&B's available in Glasgow

http://www.glasgowbedbreakfast.co.uk/

I know when I go travelling, I prefer to stay in this type of accommodation. It feels far more authentic in comparison to staying in a generic chain hotel. Does sound like you have a busy trip ahead of you!
