Base for Edinburgh, Stirling, Loch Lommond and?`

We're in Scotland in July from the 18th, flying out of Glasgow on the 22nd (late afternoon). I'm looking for recommendations for a base stay for easy accessibility for Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Loch Lomond etc. We will have a rental car that we drop off at the airport on our last day but we'd to stay somewhere that has easy access to trains into Edinburgh.

TIA for any and all suggestions

Have a look at Linlithgow or Stirling- both would give you easy access to trains for the city visits and good road connections for the scenic tours. You will be here before the Commonwealth games starts so should be able to find accommodation for your trip. If you are looking for self catering / holiday cottage then you will struggle to find anywhere that will book for less than 7 days though as July is peak season and most rentals are Fri-Fri or Sat-Sat.

You could stay in Glasgow as that has easy access to all the places you mention.

Agreed- or Edinburgh. Why not decide based on the place with the most sights you fancy seeing?

Best for Stirling, the Trossachs, Loch Lomond: somewhere around the Callander area. Easy access (for example) to the boat trips on Loch Katrine, and you can drive to Stirling to get a train.

Easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow: Linlithgow is a good call. it has its own attractions in Linlithgow Loch, Linlithgow Palace, but is otherwise a very quiet place, with a couple of decent places to eat in the evening. Handy also for the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies

With Edinburgh-Stirling being 1 hour by car approx the same by train, transport between towns isnt the major issue. But a car is important for the Trossachs, and the Loch Lomond area.
