Skiing conditions in Scotland Winter 2014 (NOW!)

Hi All.

Does anyone know what the skiing is like at the moment in Scotland.

Is there still a lot of snow, as I am looking to go in the next couple of weeks?

If so and the snow is still pretty good, where do you recommend I go? I am a beginner to intermediate skier and have no idea where is best to go.

Note: I'm travelling from Birmingham.

Thank you in advance!!!

So, do you want to know the conditions NOW, or in a couple of weeks time? :-)

Either way, you are probably better just looking at the websites for the Scottish ski-ing resorts. They publish their conditions every day, if not more often. Might even have webcams....

They have had record snowfall this year, check the main ski areasike Nevis Range, the other week some of the ski tows were buried under snow.

Aviemore/Cairngorm has loads of snow at the moment. the wind is proving a problem on some days but when the wind is okay the conditions are fantastic :-) http://www.cairngormmountain.org/

Agree with Peterscot! If the River Spey at Grantown is anything to go by there's a lot of snow melt about! Check the skiing websites for an up to the minute report of conditions

There may be snow melt in for the River Spey but it's a whole different story up the Cairngorm Mountain resort with serious amounts of snow. There were more blizzards yesterday, the train track was covered over yet again with snow but they still managed to get the lower tows open today and there was still a few hundred skiing on the hill. I didn't take this snap (although I will be up there tomorrow) but here's a pic from today www.flickr.com/photos/goanjock/12798758895/

http://www.ski-glenshee.co.uk/

snow is still pretty good at Glenshee and more to come over the next few nights.

Lodgings are best at either Blairgowrie or Braemar - would also recommend

http://www.dalmunzie.com/index.php - as it is pretty close to the slopes (you might need a 4x4 to get there though)

before heading into the Scottish hills, best to check the road reports http://trafficscotland.org/ as the snowgates might be closed if tooo much of the white stuff comes down all at once......

The Skiing conditions at the Cairngorm Mountain Resort were fantastic today with the runs in great condition. The forecast for the next 4 days wind-wise is also looking good and by Saturday morning the funicular train track should be dug out as well as all the buildings at the Ptarmagan (top station) which should make everything just perfect.
