1/2 day in the Cairngorms

I'd like to spend 1/2 day in the Cairngorms. I'll be coming from Dufftown. I'm most interested in scenery, a 1-3 mile walk, and wildlife spotting. It appears that Tomintoul is closest. Would it be best for me to explore from there? Or, should I route around to Aviemore. Are there areas and sights you recommend? Is 1/2 a day reasonable? Thank you.

No I would say it would be better and easier to explore from Aviemore, Boat of Garten or Nethy Bridge.

Tomintoul is quite far from anywhere relatively speaking. What sort of wildlife are you hoping to see? There are Ospreys nesting at Loch Garten near Boat of Garten and if you are lucky you may see capercaillie there too or in the surrounding Abernethy forest.

Have a look online at the BWWC website and The Watcher magazine which will give you an idea of what can be seen where.

No, half a day isn't long enough I'm afraid!
