Weekend in Oban

I will be spending 4 nights just outside Oban next week and would very much appreciate any suggestions/advice as to how I should best spend my time.I will have a car and am hoping to make a trip to Mull while I am there. Accommodation is booked so I will just be able to make a day trip to Mull..can anyone advice re: ferry trip/coatings/must sees in Mull?!

I am a keen photographer and love the scenic landscapes that the north of Scotland has to offer..can anyone suggest a great (or several great) vantage points to get a good shot from..or any other areas nearby which I could drive to catch the landscape/wildlife etc? A friend has suggested driving to Mallaig..is the route really as scenic as he said it is???

As for Oban itself are there any events/weekend markets planned for next week? Looking for a cosy pub also to settled down for a nice drink after a days adventure!! Thanks for all your help!!!

Ferry to Mull run about every 2 hours from Oban to Craignure, but be aware they can be delayed or suspended due to weather. The crossing time is about 40 minutes. Mull is a great island worth exploring, but taking the car adds quite a lot to the fare. West Coast Motors have buses that meet the ferries to take you to Tobermory, you could take the walk from Tobermory to Aros Park & return along the coast. Amother possibility is to go across on the 5 minute trip to Kerrara from just south of Oban, you can leave your car at the slipway. Just check on times locally for the ferry. Or go from Oban to Lismore again on a small ferry

Go up to this bridge ( and around it ) and get some snaps of the falls.

We did a day trip to Mull last month, and it cost £85 for car and 4 adults, so a bit less for two people and car.70 Ish. See the Calmac website for details. http://www.calmac.co.uk/ It is advisable to book in advance, but the staff at the Oban terminal are very good, and will tell you what the bookings are like the day before, so you can wait and see if the weather is decent before booking.

Some days have a better service than others, I think Tues and Thurs were the most frequent.
