Dumfries to Sorbie transportation options

Hi, my daughter and her boyfriend are traveling in June. They want to visit Sorbie as his family is from there - his last name is Hanna. They are traveling via BritRail (ages 22 and 21). They would prefer not to rent a car.

Is there a way to get to Sorbie via public transportation? They would like to do a day trip to visit the area.

Thank you!

Hi, the best thing to do is go on the Traveline Scotland website, they will need to get a bus direct through to Newton Stewart which takes about 1 hour 10 on a National Express bus. Then get the local bus 415 through to Sorbie which takes about 35 minutes. You can easily do this trip in a day. If you book the Dumfries - Newton ticket in advance you should get it for about £10.80 return
