Is it me or is this whole thread a bit odd. Lots of single post people never to be heard of again. What can be gained by it do you suppose?

Hi all, we just had our wedding at Knockbrex, it was fantastic. Brilliant venue, amazing setting, a really terrific place for a party, the good vibes are just coming out of the walls. Can highly recommend Kirkpatrick's restaurant in Kirkcudbright, who did a gorgeous buffet for us and supplied waiting staff to pour the champagne etc. The castle and the cottage next door sleep 20 people in total, and we also hired extra self-catering accommodation on the Knockbrex estate so nobody had to double up and we could spread out a bit - The West Wing is available for hire, and also the Factor's House and the Groom's House, all three only a couple of minutes round the corner, you should be able to find them if you Google "Knockbrex" and the house names.

Our event was pretty low key, we didn't do the whole 'wedding' thing with a cake and speeches and all that stuff, just a short ceremony, a buffet and then we rolled up the carpet for dancing, so it was all pretty easy to organise and very informal. If you're having a grander "do" for lots of people, I think you'd still be okay but you would need to be aware in advance that you have to source and arrange absolutely everything yourself, including additional seating etc, there are no staff at the castle (except the housekeepers, who are lovely, but bear in mind they're there to look after the house, not to look after you!!!).

So go for it, you'll have a great time, and good luck!
