It's the weather - today's the first day for quite a while where I didn't think it essential to wear a wet suit (as opposed to getting a wet suit).

As for August - if it wasn't for the comedy imagine how bad the locals would be.

English wife and West of Sc self find Edinburgh folk fine; if you're nice to them, they're nice to you! (A bit like the French?)

Though the town is akin to London, Oxford, etc. Try to find a REAL local, it's all "incomers"! The only REAL local is usually sampling whisky somewhere or other!

I do have to say, the bus drivers universally were miserable; not actually rude, just miserable.
