bus transport into city from Dalmahoy

Staying at golf course just outside of Edinburgh. What is the most economical way to get into the city center? Buses or taxi? Any info on how late buses run in the evening? Any info on local transport will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Opposite the entrance to the hotel there is a bus stop for the First bus service 27 or 28

firstgroup.com/ukbus/scotland/sescot/home/

A mile down the road there is the Hermiston Park & Ride which has a 4 hour bus service

Google Streetview goes that far out so you can use the hotel postcode to see what the area looks like - including bus stops

You should be aware that from the front door of the hotel to the front gate where you can catch a bus is about 1/2 mile

Yes, do take up AlanRow's suggestion of checking Google maps to get an idea of the area. It is quite a walk from the hotel to the FirstBus stop, and quite a bit further to the Lothian Buses park and ride. The hotel is not best placed for those relying on public transport. It is very much of the country house style hotel, with a "in the middle of nowhere" feel to it.

all should work out great for me as I rather enjoy the "country" and a bit of a walk. Can't wait to experience the land of my ancestors. Thanks

There's no need to walk to the park and ride. Plenty of buses pass the hotel entrance. It's an easy walk to the entrance. You need to cross the road to the bus stop on the other side. Be careful as it's a busy road.

That's busy as in most of the traffic will be doing 60mph. So look right, look left and then look right again - and be prepared to sprint
