Ryanair cutting 5 routes from Edinburgh

Or are they? Sounds like some major brinkmanship going on.

news.stv.tv/scotland/…

“We hope even at this late stage that BAA Edinburgh will realise that the way to grow traffic and jobs is by working with Ryanair to lower passengers fares, not raise them.”

Given BAA won't be running the airport for long why is Ryanair trying to put pressure on them? BAA could give the slots away secure in the knowledge that they wouldn't be dealing with the consequences

Good question Alan. They've been gradually increasing prices over the past year or so. Food has increased by at least 50%, parking prices are ridiculous and the introduction of a £1 charge purely to enter the airport and drop travellers 100 metres from the terminal. Not happy ripping off the punters but now trying to lever more money out of the carriers.

No-one is being ripped off or robbed.

If you don't like it then don't use it or try and lobby for change.

Accusing a company of illegal activities is not the way to change it.

To clarify my position here though, I use Edinburgh airport frequently, and everything I stated above is fact. I have no problem with BAA.
