Bars and restaurants George St area

Hi,

Can anyone suggest some nice bars and restaurants for a Saturday night, maybe around the George St area of town, as we are staying close to the train station.

Also, any suggestions for Sunday dinner would be appreciated.

Thanks :-)

George Street is full of bars and restaurants, and there are even more in the streets around. It's a fair guess that every one of them is regarded as "nice" or better by its regular clientele. If you can tell us what makes a place "nice" for you, we can offer some suggestions. Otherwise, we will just be telling you about what we like, and that might not be what you like!

For what it's worth, I like Brown's but I know I'm in a minority. Fortunately, quite a large one!

There are LOADS of nice places on George Street, Hanover Street etc. Depends on budget and preferences obviously. e.g. veggie or carnivore?

Chez Jules? Henderson's for a 1970s veggie experience?

So many choices. Places I have frequented in the area;

BARS;

- Tonic

- Bramble

- Amicus Apple

- Candy Bar

- The Monde

- Lulu

- The Dome

- Harvey Nicks 4th Floor

- Opal Lounge

- El Barrio

- Grand Cru

RESTAURANTS;

- Mussel Inn

- Wildfire

- Ricks (also a bar)

- The Living Room (also a bar)

- The Honours

- Tigerlily (above Lulu)

- Tex Mex 2

- Cafe Andaluz

- Underdogs (also a bar)

- Centotre

There are loads more besides, but those are the few places I have recent personal experience of, and would recommend. Have a look at some websites and menus of the above, or post some more details about your likes and dislikes here.

Abs :)

The Dome is a lovely place for dinner or pre or after dinner drinks and we also had a nice dinner at Ricks in Fredrick Street.

Wow!!! Thank you ever so much for all the suggestions :-D Really appreciate the help. Don't think we will be able to get round them all, but will give it a shot, lol

The group is three ladies celebrating a special birthday. We are hoping to go for afternoon tea the first day, A mid price range meal for the evening, with a nice setting would be good, then a few cocktails and maybe a bit of dancing thrown in for good measure.

Take plenty of cash, George St is notoriously expensive......
