Pre Paid tours

We are going to Edinburgh for 3 days the end of Nov. Would love to tour the Castle, take the Whiskey tour and others. Should we pre book our tours or pay as we go. Hoping the crowds are small that time of year. Also what else may be recommended for 2 adults.

Thanks, Mike

Castle, whisky: I doubt you will have to wait in a queue, late November. There is a whole tourist trail centred largely on the Royal Mile and the New Town north of Princes Street, but if you have time for outdoors places as well, you will not be disappointed by The Botanic Gardens, a walk up Arthurs Seat, or a stroll down the Water of Leith from the Dean Village of Stockbridge to Leith.

Difficult to recommend places without knowing your interests. Are you laid back West Coast, Sierra hikers [spotted the backpack] or culture vultures?

Last year the castle offered free entry on 30th November (St Andrews Day) and it was Soooo busy! But so far there is nothing to indicate that it will be the same this year. Other than that, Edinburgh is pretty quiet (and cold and dark!) in late November so you shouldn't need to pre book.
