Ormiston Yew Tree, East Lothian

Has anyone ever visited this ancient Heritage tree and could they give us directions after we get to Ormiston? Seemingly it is quite a challenge to find!

Having just visited the amazing Ormiston Yews here are some directions: Leaving Edinburgh, drive towards the village of Ormiston on the A6093. Just before the village turn right onto the B6371. As you go down the hill, you will see on the left a driveway marked for Ormiston Hall with the Great Yew listed at the bottom. You can leave the car outside the gates and walk in. After a while take the right-hand fork on the path, passing by old ruins and then a modern house. Just after this house, you will see, on the right two logs leading into a grassy area. Take this and on the right you will see the yew trees and the natural entrance. A spectacular sight.

I would only suggest leaving your car parked there if you don't mind it being scraped by a lorry or tractor, certainly not a safe spot to park.

Much better to continue on towards Ormiston rather than take the B road towards Humbie as suggested.

About 150 metres before the turn off to Ormiston you will see a turn off on the right hand side that doubles back on itself lined with mature trees. Pull into here & you can safely park off the main road.

Follow this track/road along, round the left hand bend, down the dip & up the other side. At the top take the left hand fork, you will then shortly see the logs as described in the post above & follow the track your the right to get to the Yew Tree itself.
