First of all I want to say thank you to everyone here. I am going to Edinburgh in 2 weeks and this community has been immensely helpful in planning my trip.
I will be in Edinburgh for 4 days with my fiancée. At least half a day will be spent in St. Andrews as I am a big golfer and can't travel to Scotland without seeing the Old Course with my own eyes.
I'm wondering if a day trip to Loch Lomond/Trossachs/Stirling Castle is "worth it." Since we won't be in Edinburgh for a long time, I want to make sure we really use every day to its fullest. A full day bus trip to me sounds like it might not be the best use of time -- HOWEVER, it might be. If the trip is truly one of a kind and demonstrates sort of the "essence" of Scotland, with it's gorgeous vistas and interesting history, then it's definitely worth it.
I'd appreciate some feedback, and also maybe even suggestions for a different day trip. Thanks.
