Restaurant Advice

My husband & I have booked to stay at the Radisson Blu for a weekend at the end of this month. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi ride? We don't mind paying for a good meal, as long as we are not being ripped off & would be particularly interested in any good steak restaurants with a nice view of the city.

Hi. Staying on the Royal Mile, your hotel is right in the thick of things, with dozens of restaurant options nearby. I love Wedgwood for its stunning food at cheaper-than-Michelin prices. It's right beside your hotel. My favourite steak restaurant is Katie's diner on Bruntsfield Links. It has nice views out over the Links, and does superb steaks in a friendly environment. It's BYOB and great value. 30 minute walk or 5 minutes in a taxi from your hotel.

Others will be along with their suggestions.

Abs :)

One of the top rated Steak restaurants in the city at the moment is Kyloe, located at the west end of Princes Street, it is maybe a 15-20 minute walk from your hotel. http://www.kyloerestaurant.com/ Some of the window tables may have a view of the Castle, best to phone them and ask.

The Witchery is quite fun, but a la carte is not cheap.

Same applies, Angels with Bagpipes - nice food but not cheap. Lunch is a good deal, and dinner is expensive, while being very similar food.

If you get a taxi to Haymarket, or more specifically Dalry Road, try First Coast. They usually have steak on the menu, plus some Scottish and often eastern influenced dishes.

Not many places have good views over the City?

Tower Restaurant - Very average food with expensive prices but great views.

Harvey Nichols

Thai Restaurant with great views over Castle - chaophraya.co.uk/venues/chaophraya-edinburgh/

For a really good steak - The Honours http://thehonours.co.uk/ (no views but worth it)
