Quirky lunch for around 15 people for a 60th birthday

Hi, I am looking for a quirky lunch venue for a 60th birthday in Edinburgh or surrounding area. It will be for around 15 people (including a toddler!) in October/November/December 2013. I'm considering the 'Bridge Inn' at Ratho to hire a barge, it looks a bit pricey but good fun. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas like this.

Thank you for your help

Neil

A Mad Hatters' Tea Party at the Roseleaf?

There are reviews on TA.

Many Edinburgh attractions have good restaurants for lunch. The Zoo has a good restaurant and would make a nice day. The Botanic Gardens has a reasonable restaurant in a very attractive new building. There is a private room available as well. If the weather is bad a mooch arround the glass houses would be good. One minute desert heat, the next steamy tropical rain forest. The National Gallery on the mound, the National Museum and the castle itself all have nice restaurants. and lots of indoor things to look at and do- depending on your interests

Havent been for a while but the Scots Whisky Heritage centre also used to do nice lunches. Nice and central too.

Hi. Hotel du Vin offers a number of private dining experiences in some interesting and 'quirky' rooms. The food is excellent and it's a very central location for people coming from different directions. Something to consider.

The underground vault is a great idea! I never knew that existed. Very 'Edinburgh'...

The Doric Tavern in Market Street is always reliable. I have eaten there several times and once organised supper for 14 there - a great success.

How about the Witchery - I like the Secret Garden better than the main restaurant although you might like the main restaurant which is a bit like Hogwarts.

The Witchery for 15 people would be ruinously expensive...

The a la carte menu is very pricy, but there is a light lunch menu at the Witchery for £15.95.

"Light" being the operative word!
