Anniversary trip first time in Edinburgh

Hi just booked a 3 day trip to Edinburgh from 17th November to 20th to celebrate our anniversary. We are staying in Edinburgh City hotel. Any suggestions as to what we must do when in Edinburgh. Are there any places with music at night during the week Any nice places for a good meal not too pricey at night . We like most types of food. Will we be able to walk to the places or need a taxi. Thanks for any help.

Check here gigguide.co.uk/Edinburgh%20Listings/edinburg… and www.list.co.uk for music. Your hotel is well located so you will be able to walk most places- but wrap up warm it can be freezing in November. For things to do check out the tab at the top of this page tripadvisor.co.uk/Guide-g186525-l41-Edinburg… . Unfortunately you are just too early for the Winter festival and German market.

Hi. Plenty of great restaurants. What would be your budget for a meal? Can I suggest you check out Katie's Diner? It's great value for steaks and Americana. It's also close to your hotel, on the edge of Bruntsfield Links. It's BYOB as well.

Don't really like steak. Prefer chicken or pork. probably around £15 for a main course but would like one really nice meal for our anniversary. We come from Northern Ireland so are used to the cold. :-)

NI? So you'll give Ulster Fry a pass then?

You're near enough two areas to be able to find something nice without breaking the bank. The Grassmarket is a little North-East, Tollcross is SW, both easy walking.

Firstly a small and handy daytime cafe - Cafe Truva is just down the road (Lauriston STREET) if you want a coffee or a snack. But not flashy enough to impress, for anniversary purposes.

Grassmarket: The Mussel and Steak Bar; The Last Drop (go on, work out the name) maybe Oink if piggy food is your scene.

Tollcross: Passorn, or Ong Gie? Cloisters Bar if you want a REALLY good pint and decent food. All Brougham Street. Or Indaba? Not sure they're all in budget, pease find their websites.

Last thought: walk East past George Heriots. Continue into Forrest Road. You're in student land so lots of good but cheap food. Sandy Bell's pub often has folk music. Further on, George IV Bridge, try Ristorante Vittoria (Vittoria on the Bridge)

Hi again. Cafe Cassis, The Mussel and Steak Bar and Sweet Melinda's (in Marchmont) would be my choices.
