Hi, we will be visiting Edinburgh for the first time in December and would like to go to a jazz bar, does anyone have any suggestions of a good jazz bar for a 27 and 29 year old?

Thanks, Sarah

1. Re: Jazz

Oddly enough, Edinburgh's principal jazz venue is called "The Jazz Bar"! In Chambers Street, near the National Museum and only a couple of hundred yards from the Royal Mile. Live music seven nights a week and some afternoons, mostly modern to contemporary jazz but also related musics such as funk, latin or blues. Scotland's top musicians and occasionally touring artists from Europe or the USA. Programme at http://www.thejazzbar.co.uk/

There's also a good jam session at Whigham's in the west end, and occasional gigs at other locations. Check the gig guide for details. http://www.gigguide.co.uk/

Or http://www.edinburghjazz.com/ which is a club rather than bar. I suspect lots of silvery haired gents listening to other silvery haired gents :-)

O maybe http://www.thejamhouse.com/edinburgh/ - but that seems to be more of an eatery with jazz nowadays. And check they don't have a hen night on.
