Edinburgh Playhouse Seating

Hi, I am looking to book tickets for Edinburgh Playhouse but have read mixed reviews on where to sit due to it being cramped and all you can see are the back of peoples heads. Could anyone please advise which seating would be better, stalls or balcony? Thank you.

I always think it depends on what kind of show you're going to, sometimes it's nice to be near the action and I go for stalls, around row g, so as not to get neck strain. If its a dance ensemble type thing, sometimes I prefer an elevated view, so I go for the circle, row b, depending on your height the barrier wall at row a can be a little bit restrictive. If space is a concern, go for an aisle seat too.

Enjoy the show! X

It's a typical old theatre with fairly tight seating! I've never had a problem seeing but I'm only 5ft 6 and my knees usually touch the back of the seat in front. Anyone tall I would aim to book an aisle seat so they can stretch their legs out! Big muscial productions I think anywhere would be ok. We tend to sit towards the back of the stalls, it slopes upwards towards the back of the auditorium.

I avoid row B in the dress circle. The people in row A often lean forward on the rail and it blocks the view of those in row B. Row C is better

Thank you for your replies. The production we are going to see is Evita. Do you think the back of the stalls would be okay and which rows would you suggest.

I'd pick the stalls. We recently went to see The Lion King and were seated in the stalls - fantastic view. We were about 14 rows from the front (can't remember the row letter). Comfortable too, my Fiance is over 6 feet tall and he had enough room.

Enjoy your show!
