August is a very busy time in Edinburgh and accommodation is at a premium. Everyone has a different idea of what is a must see but three days wouldnt do anyones list justice

Stay in Edinburgh and don't move.Three days should just about cover your time there.

By the way, what guidebooks on Scotland have you read? What do you particularly want to see?

Hello Clotilda and welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately noone will agree on the must sees of Scotland. We will probably agree that they cannot be covered in only 3 days. Edinburgh alone would fill your time, especially if you can catch the start of the festivals.

My must see would be Edinburgh. And return to the rest of Scotland when you have a week or more to spare!

Agree here, some of the must see places in Scotland are as much as 7 hours drive apart. It would probably take a week to see the must see place in and around Edinburgh. Stay in Edinburgh for three days and enjoy the City.

Once you are away from the motorways of Central Scotland average driving speed is around 60Kph. so you would spend all your time driving Take the advice of others and stay put in Edinburgh but get booking soon as August is very busy

Edinburgh alone will fill your time for 3 days, you will need a spare 2 weeks to do the rest on your list!

If you are from Dubai, you may want to avoid the big city Glasgow. Edinburgh may have some interests for you but as you only have 3 days it may make more sense to enjoy some of the excellent landscape. Why not hire a lodge on Loch Lomond or Loch Ness. See some of the Highlands and Islands? It will be hard to see a lot in 3 days though.

Stay in Edinburgh and arrange for a small group day tour to see a bit of the countryside. Look at Rabbie's and Timberbush for ideas. 3 days is a very short visit.
