I am thinking of driving around Scotland for 7 days starting and finish from Edinburgh in August can anyone help me were to go Thank you for your help
We would need to know your interests?
By the way Scotland might look small on a map but outwith the Central belt and major cities there is a whole lot of narrow twisting roads to negotiate therefore impeding how much you can cover in 7 days.
You really need to look at a guide book and map first. Once you've established a loose itinerary based on your own interests and preferences, let us know. We can then help you with tweaks and tips and point you in the right direction.
Check google maps for estimated driving times which will probably be longer than you would imagine.Edited: 26 July 2014, 17:45
Scenically,a round trip which takes in Glencoe, Skye via Mallaig and/or Kintail, Applecross and Torridon would let you see some fantastic areas of the west/north west Highlands and is a popular first time taster. But as already advised, you need to google images and reviews of places to determine what most appeals. For example, Harris was voted Europe's best island(it is magnificent )and many of the Hebrides offer absolutely stunning beaches and landscapes though few first time visitors ever get there.
If I had no name my favourite places Torridon and Applecross,Assynt,Harris and North Uist and Mull/Iona would feature.
The 'trouble' is it's all pretty spectacular in the west.
In the east, Aberdeenshire for example has some wonderful Castles and Cairngorm offers lovely landscapes with superb Caledonian Pine Forest..
