Accomidations within a cab ride of Edinburgh Airport

We are two couples one of which has a bloody early flight back to California from Edinburgh, the other plans a day or two longer in Fife researching ancestry and the like. We are looking for a B and B, Guest House or Hotel where they could spend their last evening together and be close enough to the airport for us to take a cab to catch a 7:30 flight home....any ideas, or does no such place exist?

Thanks,

Les

North Queensferry or Inverkeithing, but there's a fundamental problem in that Fife is separated from Edinburgh by the Firth of Forth (and the Forth Road Bridge can have bad traffic congestion or even be closed in bad weather).

Much more sensible for the other couple to have a night in Edinburgh for late night / early morning goodbyes as close to the airport as possible, or at least in the City Centre from where buses (trams?) run to the airport.

The obvious place is the airport Hilton, within walking distance of the terminal.

Or there's the Travelodge at Ratho, a couple of miles from the terminal on the A8: cheap but relatively awkward. Or, on the edge of town, about the same distance, the Marriott.

Let me google it: http://goo.gl/maps/Qfh8M

There are some spurious 'quality hotel' tags.

Or a slighly nicer location, but would require a slightly longer taxi ride: South Queensferry. The Hawes Inn is right by the pier in SQ and almost under the rail bridge. There are a couple of other hotels in town.

I think there are a few taxis there.

Also look at the Norton House hotel- really lovely hotel and only 10 minute cab from airport handpickedhotels.co.uk/hotels/norton-house/

There's also the Dakota at South Queensferry and a Holiday Inn Express at Edinburgh airport (although it's a shuttle bus ride to the terminal). I agree that it would be sensible to get yourself to the south side of the Forth the night before - if anything happens on the bridge early in the morning you will not make your flight!

There's quite a few B&Bs along the A8 Glasgow Road between Maybury and Corstorphine which would only be 10minutes in a cab at that time of morning.

p.s. no need to swear!

Selogos, just to be clear are you looking for a place to stay in Fife or close to the airport. Your post is a little ambiguous. And I wouldn't worry about the bridge being closed. I can't recall the last time it was due to weather. It can get closed to high sided vehicles in high winds but there has to be gusts over 80mph before they close it to cars. Pretty unlikely and you would certainly know if there was such a storm before they set off and anyway the airport would be closed so their flight would be cancelled or delayed. Not much congestion at 5am either.

So are you looking for something inland or by the sea? Everywhere is reachable by taxi from Ffie, it's just a matter of travel time and cost.
