Afternoon Tea in Glasgow

I have one day in Glasgow and am planning to do the open top bus tour so that we can see a lot in a short period of time.

Can anyone recommend a place that may be along the bus routes to stop for afternoon tea? I've read about the Willow Tea Rooms, but it seems that many are disappointed with the food and service.

I appreciate any advice!

I was all set to suggest One Devonshire Gardens at Hotel du Vin, in the West End (previously highly recommended by our own restaurant critic Kirstybella) but then realised your bus tour probably won't go that far west. I'll post the link here though just in case it's of use to anyone else reading this thread:

I'll check out the bus route and see what might be on the route. Back in a bit!

It's not fancy but the cafe within the John Lewis store in the Buchanan Galleries does the best scones and their cakes always look delicious too.

It is self-service though not table service so I don't know if this is what you are looking for.

I've just discovered that the famous Glasgow institution Rogano's (just off Buchanan Street) does a scrumtious looking traditional afternoon tea. Read it and weep:

The afternoon tea at Fifi and Ally's in Princes square in the centre of glasgow is just amazing - and has the option of a glass of champagne. see www.fifi-and-ally.com

Enjoy!
