This Saturday

Have a thirty-something friend (who lives in Edinburgh) who is flat sitting in Glasgow this weekend. Doesn't anticipate much to do. Plans to see the cathedral as it was closed on last visit.

What suggestions have you?

The first thing I'd say it to be aware of the Old Firm match at Ibrox at 12.30, and to certainly avoid the underground before and after.

Where's the flat? Kelvingrove, The Burrell, People's Palace, are all good suggestions depending on where your friend is staying and what they fancy doing. You could point them here

for starters.

Dont plan much for late afternoon or night. If you are going out, go out during the match. Dont plan to go to any bars after it either.

During the day I would recommend the Kelvingrove art gallery, its recently been redeveloped and you could spend hours in there.

THE BOTANICAL GARDENS then on to byres Road for a wander around , also the underground station at the top of byres road would allow you many opions around the city , Yes but do remember the Football 12.30 KO.

There may be a handful of tickets left to see Marti Pellow in the Witches of Eastwick musical on its last night at the King's Theatre. The show has been touring the country and has very good reviews:

If the weather behaves, then a stroll around some of the parks is an excellent idea. Love the Kelvingrove Museum and also the Transport museum just across the road - both free!

How about the a guided tour of Glasgow University:
