Walk along Kelvin Way and in five minutes you will be at Glasgow Uni with its Student Association and the Queen Margaret Union. Turn left up University Avenue and you will hit Byres Road, plenty of pubs and places to eat and shop.

Many thanks! Also wondering if there are nice pubs/eateries/cafes in the immediate neighbourhood.

Mother India's Cafe is a few minutes along Argyle St to the west. Fab food.

You are spoilt for choice in the area as some of my favourite places to eat are in that neighbourhood:

Thai Siam on Argyle Street

Konaki House on Sauchiehall Street

Mother India Cafe on Dumbarton Road

Not really a pub person but there is also a good choice of bars and pubs in the area.
