Winter Sun

Could anyone suggest where I might easily get some winter sun - flying from Glasgow Airport without having to change flights in London, and keeping flying time to an absolute minimum? I'm desperate for a bit of sunshine. I know it's a tall order.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi PC;

Depends if you mean Winter Sun or Wintery Sun!

Cyprus, Malta, Canaries, Tunisia CAN be sunny and CAN be warm - they can be wet and quite cold - or sunny and quite cool.

Red Sea area is about the closest for almost reliable sunshine and reasonable warmth.

Anyway, what's wrong with a day in Girvan?

Hi PC,

If you are desperate for it to be sunny and hot and are also looking for a package, Thomas Cook are doing some really good winter deals to Sharm-el-sheik direct from Glasgow.

The weather is not guaranteed but there are loads of tour operators going to the Canaries and I have priced holidays with almost all of them and in general Thomas Cook are working out cheaper if you are flying from Glasgow.

If you are looking to do your own organising Ryan Air are flying to three of the Canary Islands from Prestwick with some of the flights from £36.00 without luggage.

Hope you get something sorted out : )

I would recommend here in Egypt. Both Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada are great places. There are many wonderful offers available just now. The sea can be a bit cool but most of the hotels have heated swimming pools in the winter. How I miss the snow. Would love to go to Scotland in the winter, but too cold for me now.
