Hotel/B&B in city or out

Hi my wife and I will be touring the Country in August and were wondering if we are better taking the car into the City or finding accommodation and travelling in by bus/ car for the 3 days we're going to spend in Glasgow?

Any advice would be great.

It may depend on your budget.

Some hotels in the City centre have car parks, e.g The Hilton and The Thistle

Or you could stay in the West End where most of the on-street parking is free and use a combination of the bus and underground if you wish

I'd suggest you investigate The City Inn - tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186534-d2158… - which has free parking and gets consistently good reviews on here. It's close to major roads in and out of Glasgow but also close enough to the city that you can get to city centre and West End very easily. No point trying to drive round Glasgow - like any big city, the one way system is just a nightmare. Have a good trip.

The City Inn is a very nice place, had a number of pleasant meals there but it is a bit isolated. Not a lot in terms of local bars, shops etc.

There are IMHO better alternatives

West End - The Alamo Guest House gets constantly good reviews

tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186534-d6179…

Parking is controlled in this area with a maximum stay of 3 hours between 8am and 6 pm

Relatives of mine have stayed at The Ambassador

tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186534-d2109…

On street parking is free in this part of the world

As I posted earlier The Thistle Hotel on Cambridge Street has a car park

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186534-d188992…

As does the Hilton (not such a good location in terms of what is nearby)
