Transport around Glasgow

Hi - can anyone help with advice on transport around Glasgow. I am looking to go from Buchanan Street Bus Station to see the Burrell Collection, and then to go to the site of the new Museum of Transport.

You will find directions to the Burrell on the website.

Get a train from Central Station to Pollokshaws West, then it's a 15 minute walk through Pollok Park or there is a courtesy bus.

The new transport museum is beside the Clyde quite close to the old museum at Kelvin Hall.

Thanks. Is it far from Buchanan Street Bus Station to Central Station? And, can you tell me the easiest way from the Burell to the site of the Riverside Museum?

Bus 398 runs between Glasgow Central station and Buchanan Street bus station (as well as serving Glasgow Queen Street station). This inter-station bus runs every few minutes for much of the day.

The nearest station to the new (as yet unopened) Riverside Museum is Partick. To get there from the Burrell Collection, take the train from Pollokshaws West to Glasgow Central, then change to the low-level platforms for a train to Partick. See www.spt.co.uk

is the new transport museum open yet and where is it?

it was so handy before just to jump on the underground to get there with the kids - then you could take them to the art gallery almost next door.

No

May 2011 I believe is when it will be open.

It is down on the Clydeside, not really near anything , and certainly not as handy to get to as the old one in the Kelvin Hall.

It's not going to be that difficult to get to, nearest train or subway is the Partick Interchange, coming out of the station turn right along the footpath at the side of Morrisons and on to Beith St, cross the road under the railway bridge and cross the pedestrian bridge over the Expressway and it is across the other side of Castlebank St. big shiny aluminium building like wavy upside down ships hulls, actually only 500 yds as the crow flies.
