Not an obvious girlie destination, but the Glasgow science centre is fun and has an Imax cinema so worth seeing what's on.

Lots of shopping.

A picnic in the botanic gardens?

If she likes to make craft things http://www.thelifecraft.co.uk/classes.html. do classes...

Have a look at http://whatson.seeglasgow.com/Family-Glasgow for events.

What is she interested in?

the new science museum would be fun, as well as the kelvingrove museum. we checked out both and liked them, even without kids.

The People's Palace and she can have a laugh at how people of her grandparents age and older used to live in days gone by!

undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/glasgow/peoplespa…

She will then realise what a cushy life she leads!

She might enjoy the Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery, and if you are at aloose end in the evenings you might find a decent film at the Glasgow Film Theatre or the Grosvenor Cinema in the West End. The former is an elegant old art deco cinema just off Sauchiehall Street in the city centre, and the latter a traditional old cinema complete with love seats, comfy chairs and somewhere to place that all important glass of wine that you can take from the bar into the movie with you. Now that's civilised!

If your 12 year old is interested in offbeat fashion then a visit to the west end's vintage boutiques is a must. Catch the subway to Hillhead/Byres Road, and don't miss the likes of Starry Starry Night on Ruthven Lane and the many other vintage and retro shops popping up all around the Byres Road area.

Another one is Scotland Street School, just near Shields Road Subway Station (a trip on the glasgow subway is a must if you've never been). It's a victorian school that's been preserved as it was in the day and has actors in period costume acting as teachers would have acted.
