Yup - agree with Purple C! It's a lovely hotel. I've stayed a few times.

You obviously don't if you think slipping people some coins will help! The rooms do vary a lot in size - even the standard rooms.

I'd say your main focus area for this hotel should be requesting a quiet room (regardless of whether it's an upgrade or not). I've stayed here twice, both rooms themselves were lovely BUT they faced the street over the main entrance to the station and by the taxi rank and bus shelters. There is no double glazing and I didn't get a wink of sleep as there are people shouting in the street (unsurprisingly!) all night long.

So make sure you ask for a quiet room, preferably facing the station, as although you can hear the tannoys, at least they stop during the night!!

Much prefer a free upgrade. The upgraded rooms will be about 20 quid more so hardly worth a £10-£15 'bribe'.

You must go for champagne in the bar though. Comfy seats in the lounge area as well. Breakfast in Tempus restaurant is fab.
