IBIS hotel and a few more Qs!!

hi we ie; my daughters 16,19 and I are planning a visit to Glasgow in Oct , the Ibis seems to be coming in at a v good price, is it far from the centre? do you recommend?

Also, what is the central area/street called? are all the major shops there?

Re day trips to Edinburgh, whts the travel time by bus or train? and do they run several times a day? thanks v much

The Ibis on West Regent St is just one stree from Sauchiehall St which is one of the main shopping streets in Glasgow. You would be in the centtral are there. Maybe some would say Gearge Sq. was the most "central" area but that's just 0 minutes walk from your hotel. There's also Buchannan Galleries, St Enoch's and the upmarket Princes Square.

Glasogow is one big shopping centre.

Edinburg takes 45 minutes by train or about 1h20 by bus. You can get timetables and fares on www.nationalrail.co.uk and on the Scottish citylink site.

Both busses and trains run very frequently

Not much to add to Ron's comments except to say if it's the budget Ibus at the Quay then please avoid no matter how cheap you may find it!!

It is certainaly not for families.

Note to Ron? Are you on the Advocaat early tonight!!!

No Sephora in Glasgow I'm sad to say! Debenhams, John Lewis, and Frasers have most major cosmetic companies between them.

MD I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 and since then my computer has a mind of its own. I will be typing something and the cursor has jumped back so I have to delete and re-type so sometimes a few mistrakes get past. I really need to use Word spellcheck ;-)
