Location of train station at Glasgow

We are flying into Glasgow on a Sunday morning and have to take a train to Edinbourgh. I was under the impression that there was a train station near the airport. Can someone tell me what we will have to do to catch the train and if we can buy tickets there instead of buying ahead. Two ladies, so we want to be safe and have some idea of what walking we will do so we can plan our luggage.

Sorry no train station at Glasgow airport. You can get a local bus to Paisley Gilmour Street then the train from there to Glasgow. You then need to change to Queen Street Station for train to Edinburgh - ten min walk.

Alternative is to get bus from Glasgow Airport to Buchanan bus station and queen st station is round the corner (probably the best option)

The easiest option would be a taxi all the way to queen at but this would be the most expensive option.

P.s. just buy train tickets at station on the day

The airport bus goes to Queen Street, but you can also take a coach from Buchanan Street to Edinburgh which normally departs from the stand next to the bus from Glasgow

And staying at station and getting another bus would be much easier than trailing luggage to train station.

Yes, bus is the easiest way.

Get the 500 Glasgow Shuttle from front of terminal building to Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow.

Just to the right when you get off you will see the blue and yellow Scottish Citylink 900 for Edinburgh.

Both buses are very frequent and you can buy a through ticket from the driver at the airport.

Alternatively, staying on the bus theme, megabus run from Buchanan Street Bus Station to Edinburgh and can be very inexpensive if booked in advance.

I'm sure Megabus and Citylink are just different brand names for the same thing but you might be able to get cheaper tickets on their separate sites even though it's the same bus.

I think on this occassion the 2 ladies would be better off just keeping it simple and going with Kenko's advice at post 4 as their post showed a wee bit of concern.

Through ticket purchased on the airport bus outside the front of the terminal and step off one bus and onto the one at the next stance at Buchanan and next stop Edinburgh, no hassle.

Only one extra point is that remember it is the single decker 500 bus at the airport and not the double decker 747 as this one is not the express bus.
