Glasgow named most vegan friendly city

by Peta: …peta.org.uk/2013/…

I'd personally put Brighton way above Glasgow in those stakes, but it puts the city in the spotlight at least, and that can't be a bad thing. What made me chuckle though was

"Glaswegians should be proud that their hometown is on the cutting edge of healthy cuisine"

Mull that thought over for a moment and try not to laugh. As a big fan of vegetarian/vegan food I can certainly endorse what they say about the likes of Cafe Saramago, Stereo etc but will add another to that list, The Flying Duck http://www.flyingduckclub.com/

Should there be any other places on their list?

I have yet to see anywhere that sells a deep fried mars bar!

Does deep fried pizza crunch from the chippie qualify though?

The full quote is "Glaswegians should be proud that their hometown is on the cutting edge of healthy cuisine that is Earth- and animal-friendly"

Which is quite different to "Glaswegians should be proud that their hometown is on the cutting edge of healthy cuisine"

Lots of options that are not Vegan friendly but that doesn't make them unhealthy.

Glad to see you were paying full attention William. By the time I got to the last part of that sentence I had tears in my eyes:) Glasgow has amazing eating out options and plenty of healthy food on offer (see: Marthas) but thats not the general perception in the wider world. Perhaps PETA putting the spotlight on us will help change that perception.

With every upside there is a downside - Vegan food has more calories.
