Car travel from Glasgow to Skye then Edinburgh in November

We are planning this trip in November. Would there be any feedback on concerns about travelling by car at this time of year?

We would like the flexibility of a car if possible.

It should be no problem . The weather is unlikely to be snowy or icy - more likely wet and windy. But be aware of the short daylight hours - only about seven hours at that time of year.

Thank you for your speedy response. I am thinking we will take on the rain and hope for some dry days. Appreciate knowing about the 7 hours of daylight.

Note that the train from Glasgow to Mallaig and on by ferry to Skye is one of The great railway journeys. You can then come back on another great railway journey taking the bus from Skye across the channel to Kyle of Lochalsh and the train from there to Inverness and back by train to Edinburgh, another nice journey. There are discounted tickets which include train and ferry. See www.scotrail.co.uk/content/highland-rover-0 or scotrail.co.uk/content/freedom-scotland-trav…

Shouldn't be an issue so long as you are comfortable driving in wet/overcast conditions.

I regularly travel to Kyle of Lochalsh on work duty, you can comfortably do Glasgow to Kyle in 4 to 4.5 hrs.
