Train or bus ? Both stop at the airport. You would need to change at bus / train stations to get to St Andrews. Have a look at the traveline Scotland website.

Are you flying into Prestwick? If so there is a 50pc discount available on Scotrail.

You take the train from the airport station to Glasgow Central station, then a short walk to Queen St station for a train to Leuchars via Dundee or Edinburgh Haymarket.

Leuchars is a short bus or taxi ride from St.Andrews.

www.travelinescotland.com for journey planning, put on Prestwick Airport Stn as your starting point.

As Kenko says if you have arrived on a flight then show the Conducter on the train your flight/e-ticket and ask for a through ticket all the way to Luechars, the nearest station to St Andrews, for as said half price!

It will involve 3 trains and expect with transfers the whole journey to take at least 3 hrs min.

Yep I used to do this trip by train all the time to get to Stirling. You will need to change stations though in Glasgow from Central to Queen St http://www.scotrail.co.uk/trainconnections

To be honest unless you have lots of luggage you would be quicker to walk. There are some direct connections between Central Station and Edinburgh but these are less frequent an take twice the time. Another thing you might encounter on a Sunday is the dreaded bus replacement service if there are engineering works. This could add some time to your journey so check on the www.nationalrail.co.uk website for your specific dates.

This journey will take you at least 4 hours on a Sunday as the train service is reduced at the weekend. If you drive then think about something like Alamo airport connect alamo.co.uk/Hotdeals/…aluk_airportconnect although you would need to drop the car off then next day in Dundee.

You can get a through train ticket to St Andrews including the bus (train to Leuchars)

Not sure if that works with the 50% discount but ask the train conductor.

According to their other post Alan they are thinking of taking a side trip to Ireland but leaving their Clubs at Prestwick, therefore have to return there.
